Be the GM: New Orleans Pelicans select Aaron Nesmith with the 13th pick

Aaron Nesmith

You’ve decided to forget about defense altogether and take the best shooter in the draft.

Nesmith gives the Pelicans potentially elite shooting to go around Zion Williamson, which is the path many people think they should take.

This move might also make J.J. Redick redundant, so the Pels could pick up additional pieces by flipping Redick to a contender.

Here is your rotation with Aaron Nesmith:

PG: Lonzo Ball

SG: Jrue Holiday/J.J. Redick/Aaron Nesmith

SF: Brandon Ingram/Josh Hart

PF: Zion Williamson/Nicolo Melli

C: Jaxson Hayes/Free Agent Center

If you take Nesmith, the roster still has too many guards and not enough forwards, so you’d almost have to trade Redick, Holiday or Josh Hart to make it work.

If the Pels are high on Nesmith, they could end up flipping one of their veterans for a package that fills the holes at center and forward.

You’ve created a potentially dynamic offensive team that would have to play small most of the time and might get torched on defense.
