3 Players who’ll help the New Orleans Pelicans in their second go with the team

NBA careers have interesting arcs when we compare them to other sports. In the NBA, players move a lot putting themselves in their best situation. This a major contrast to leagues like the NFL, NHL, and MLB where homegrown stars often spent a large time with one franchise. The New Orleans Pelicans organization understands this aspect to the NBA very well.

Players leave and depart. Some players that come to the New Orleans organization love every second they spend in a Pelicans jersey, others might not be fond of how things roll in the Big Easy. Some players just want to win though and are open to returning to the Pelicans if that’s their best chance at being apart of a special team.

If I’m the New Orleans Pelicans, that’s my sales pitch to veteran free agents who have already played for the organization. Familiarity and winning. With David Griffin helming the New Orleans Pelicans rebuild, it’s clear that the last thing the Pelicans need to compete is some quality veteran leadership surrounding their young core.

There are a few former Pelicans in this year’s free-agent class who I believe can help the team be competitive in 2021. If I’m in the New Orleans Pelicans front office, I’m calling these three former Pelicans and pitching them that returning to New Orleans is a winning move.
