The Anthony Davis trade will serve as the start to a rivalry between the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans in 2021

Do I really have to say it? I know every New Orleans Pelicans fan is licking their lips every time the team plays the Los Angeles Lakers because they want to blow Anthony Davis’ doors off. With the Pelicans becoming a better team in 2021, things could get hot.

Yes, the organization will hope to win against Anthony Davis and prove that never needed him in the first place, but Davis wants to beat them too. Anthony Davis is a bonafide superstar and I expect that even if he wins a title this year, he’ll still look to tell the Pelicans that he made the best decision.

What’s more interesting is the players on the Pelicans who were once former Lakers. Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart all improved in 2020 and I think next season they’ll look to stick it to LeBron and the Lakers saying they aren’t just a bunch of kids.

Oh, did I mention that LeBron James doesn’t particularly care for Pelicans executive David Griffin after his comments about being with James in Cleveland? Yeah, I’m sure LeBron James will want to throw his punches on the court too.

Factor in the fact that the Lakers will potentially be the defending champions and the New Orleans Pelicans will fight even harder hoping to steal the crown away sooner rather than later. This rivalry has the makings of a Shakespearean drama.
