New Orleans Pelicans: NBA Draft trade with the Detroit Pistons

The Motown Defender

The Detroit Pistons have made it known that they would trade down in this draft to pick up assets or extra picks.

The 7th pick doesn’t have a ton of value for them, especially if one of the point guards they covet is no longer on the board. The Pistons need talent and assets to build with and may be willing to give up a player to get them.

This trade gets the Pistons a young project in Nickeil Alexander-Walker, they still get a lottery pick and add a high second-rounder for their troubles. This is the type of trade the Pistons need to make, as they have little talent and get an extra chance to find some.

The Pelicans get a quality defender in Bruce Brown who can defend 1-3 and move up to the 7th pick, where they can potentially grab a better player. Brown is on a team-friendly contract that only goes one more season and could really improve the Pelicans’ defense.

With the seventh pick, they could take the best wing available and have a much more versatile and long team that was better defensively.
