New Orleans Pelicans: 3 Tyler Herro-like targets in the NBA Draft
New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Jahmi’us Ramsey could be the next Tyler Herro
Jahmi’us Ramsey
There are a lot of similarities between Jahmi’us Ramsey and Tyler Herro.
They are both the same size and have plus athleticism, though Ramsey is a better athlete than Herro. Both were good 3-point shooters in college, though Ramsey shot 42 percent to Herro’s 35 on more attempts per game.
Both players averaged around four rebounds and 2.5 assists in college, both were playmakers but looked to score first.
Like Herro, Ramsey is a shooting guard who can handle the rock and will likely play some on the ball in the NBA. He is also a creative scorer who can get buckets from all over the floor.
This is what makes Herrro so special, as he doesn’t just stand in the corner and shoot three-pointers but runs off screens and uses penetration and change of pace to get space.
Ramsey has the ability to slither through defenders, just like Herro and before you know it, he’s at the hoop. Ramsey is also adept at the two-man game, where he penetrates, dishes to a big and then retreats to the 3-point line for an open shot.
Ramsey is also a good rebounder for his position and likes to grab the board and go, as we’ve seen Herro do a lot in these playoffs.
Ramsey is projected to go somewhere in the late first round, but some team may take a chance on his combination of athleticism and scoring. Ramsey is already a better defender than Herro and could end up being a really effective two-way player.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Ramsey rise on the draft boards and go in the lottery.
