New Orleans Pelicans NBA Mock Draft: #3 Pick

Scouting Report. Charlotte Hornets. Pick Analysis. Guard / Illawara Hawks. LaMelo Ball. 3. player. 170

The Charlotte Hornets jumped into the third position, which I actually liked because they didn’t tank.

Charlotte has some nice young pieces in Devonte’ Graham, Miles Bridges and PJ Washington, but they are in desperate need of some star power.

Charlotte quietly has one of the better young cores in the NBA, and adding Ball could turn them into a playoff contender in the Eastern Conference for years to come.

Graham is already a pretty good point guard, but doesn’t have great size or the playmaking ability of Ball, who would look good throwing lobs to Bridges and Washington.

Graham could be a powerful scoring weapon off the bench in the second unit, or even play off the ball, like Jrue Holiday has with Lonzo for the New Orleans Pelicans.

There are a lot of options and Charlotte has the coach to figure it out.

Michael Jordan hasn’t had a star in Charlotte for a long time, so Ball’s combination of skill and celebrity will be too much to pass up.
