New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Immanuel Quickley from Kentucky

Immanuel Quickley’s Weaknesses

At 6-foot-3 and just 185 lbs., Quickley doesn’t have great size for a shooting guard and there are questions whether he would be able to defend the position.

He also lacks explosive athleticism, which may make it hard for him to finish in the paint against NBA defenders.

Even though he shot the ball well and has a quick release, there are also some concerns over his shot mechanics. He has a low release that could be problematic against giant NBA wings closing out on the perimeter.

He was not an efficient scorer inside the 3-point line, shooting only 41 percent and he’s not particularly adept at making plays for others.

He does have good length though it didn’t translate to many blocks or steals. He could eventually end up being a disruptive on the ball defender, but his defense is a big question mark, which is why he will likely fall to the second round.

Quickley does project as a guard tweener, which the Pelicans already have in abundance, so is there a fit for one of their three second-round picks?
