2020 NBA Draft Sniper Aaron Nesmith might be the perfect complement to the New Orleans Pelicans young core

Entering the 2020 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Pelicans have numerous directions they can take thanks to all the assets at their disposal. With the 13th pick, one of the directions they can take is selecting Vanderbilt’s, Aaron Nesmith.

Over the past two seasons at the NCAA level, Nesmith started receiving a lot of hype as one of the best two-way wings in the country. Considering the Pelicans have an obvious need for depth at their wing positions, a lot of draft evaluators are calling Nesmith a name to watch for.

I think he’s a realistic target for the Pelicans in this draft too when we think about the circumstances of this year. Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s college basketball season was cut short and teams now have to adapt to a virtual pre-draft process.

With Aaron Nesmith being a sophomore player, he has a lot more tape than the freshmen players in this class. Playing for Vanderbilt in Tennessee, he’s in the Pelicans backyard as well.

He’s not the flashiest name in the draft, but Aaron Nesmith is a player with some excellent strengths and limited weaknesses that might make him an ideal fit for the Pelicans in the upcoming draft. Let’s take a deeper look.
