New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Aaron Nesmith is an ideal selection at pick 13 to finish the team’s young

Aaron Nesmith’s fit on the Pelicans

When talking about fit, I’d Aaron Nesmith is a pretty good one with the New Orleans Pelicans. Given his skill set, and the Pelicans need for some help on the wing I think he’d carve out a role in the team’s rotation quickly.

If the team ends up trading Jrue Holiday, it’d be easy to imagine Nesmith competing with Josh Hart for the starting shooting guard position, but if Holiday is still on the roster I see him instantly playing as a rotation wing.

What Nesmith gives the Pelicans is an excellent complementary player.  With the team already having established stars on their roster, inserted Nesmith around them gives the team an outlet for some easy shots from deep.

With the Pelicans already being one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the NBA and lead assistant Chris Finch pushing for corner 3 point shots, Nesmith will slide right in as an elite shooter on this team.

Yes, some other prospects have more potential than Aaron Nesmith, but if the New Orleans Pelicans are looking for a player who can play a Klay Thompson role for them over the next decade than Aaron Nesmith is their guy.
