New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Nick Richards needs to improve offensively

Nick Richards’ Weaknesses

One of Richards’ weaknesses is lack of experience, but that can ultimately be viewed as a strength, as he has proven himself a quick learner and may have a higher ceiling than projected because of his lack of reps.

This lack of experience has led to a very raw offensive game. Richards doesn’t offer much on that end, can’t shoot, can’t handle the ball and turns it over too much when he does.

He’s not a guy who makes many plays for his teammates and is definitely not going to be a Jokic-like passer in the paint, in fact, he won’t be passing at all.

He’s one of those guys who usually doesn’t touch the ball unless it’s on a rebound and doesn’t shoot unless it’s a putback dunk.

He’s not going to stretch the floor, is unlikely to ever develop a passable jump shot and is not going to be a modern playmaking big in the paint.

If a team takes a chance on Richards it will be because he can be a disruptive force at the rim, which is something the Pelicans definitely need.

So would he have a fit on the New Orleans Pelicans?
