The New Orleans Pelicans could look to mid-majors for talent in the NBA Draft.

The New Orleans Pelicans have four picks in the 2020 NBA Draft and could use them in a number of ways.

They will look everywhere from the top programs to the international leagues to the mid-major universities. After the success of Ja Morant out of Murray State, teams are not going to be shy about grabbing talented players even if they didn’t go to a big school.

There are also going to be plenty of guys who get a look after the draft as teams look to add potential impact talent to their G-League teams.

So far, the Toronto Raptors have been the most successful team at developing talent on their G-League affiliate, something other teams are certainly trying to mimic.

Here are three mid-major players who may go undrafted but could still end up making a roster somewhere down the road.

Tevin Brown: Guard, Murray State

Like his former teammate Ja Morant, Tevin Brown knows how to get buckets in a variety of ways. He was largely in Morant’s shadow last season, but when he got his chance, he took advantage.

Brown averaged 17.9 points, 3.7 assists and 4.6 rebounds as a combo guard while shooting 41.9 percent from 3-point range on 6.3 attempts per game.

He’s not as explosive or quick as Morant but he can get into the lane and score in a variety of ways and Brown is already a much better shooter than Morant from behind the arc.

Brown has some of the same knocks as Morant, namely that he is too skinny to bang with NBA players, but it worked out just fine for Morant, who was spectacular in his rookie season.

Brown profiles as a guy who will be more of a spot-up shooter than Morant and could play some small forward in the right matchups.

Brown has not yet declared for the NBA Draft, so he may play another season at Murray State, although he already redshirted and may feel he has a chance in this draft class.
