New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Mid-major sleepers, Nathan Knight

Nathan Knight: Power Forward, William & Mary

The “Knightmare” is a power forward out of William & Mary who is a bit of a throwback with a modern twist.

Knight is a big dude at 6-foot-11, 255 lbs. and has a 7-foot-3 wingspan to go along with his big frame.

Knight’s game has an old school feel, as he does most of his damage from the post, averaging 20.7 points and 10.5 rebounds for William & Mary in his senior season.

Although Knight gets most of his buckets in the paint, he did extend his range in his senior season and projects as as guy who could eventually hit the NBA 3-pointer.

The big lefty can finish with either hand and has a soft touch around the rim, though he is not a good ball handler.

He also has intriguing potential as a shot-blocker, averaging 1.8 for his career. He lacks elite athleticism, which is why he might go undrafted, but Knight has good footwork for his size and could eventually evolve into a more skilled big man.

If not, he’ll make someone’s G-League team as a rim protector and guy who can get buckets in the paint. Will that eventually translate to an NBA rotation?

If Knight can continue to expand his range, he could be like Jahlil Okafor with range, which might intrigue a few teams.
