New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: This Israeli Sleeper Could Be Perfect

New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Yam Madar needs coaching to become a complete player in the NBA
Yam Madar’s Weaknesses
As soon as you watch Madar play, you’ll see that he’s very raw. That comes on both ends of the floor.
On defense, he’s a great pitbull and plays non-stop but sometimes he shoots too hard for a big play turnover rather than locking in to prevent points on the possession. Another thing he struggles with is sticking with his man on switches. Quick handoffs put Madar into a whirlwind and that’s how ends up guarding bigger players that he can’t handle.
His offensive struggles are much more glaring. When Madar can drive in transition or off screens he’s great but play him in a halfcourt offense and he has trouble. The biggest problem I’d say is his shooting.
Madar has bad shot mechanics which led to him shooting a putrid 28 percent from distance in Israel. Then there’s his passing. He’s solid at facilitating at times but then during other times, Madar tries too hard for big plays resulting in turnovers.
Luckily, these weaknesses are fixable with proper coaching. They mostly speak to how young Madar is because he’s a 19-year-old playing in a league filled with players in their 20s and 30s. That leaves us with the biggest question, how does he fit the New Orleans Pelicans?
