The New Orleans Pelicans could find the next overlooked shooter in the NBA Draft.

The New Orleans Pelicans and the rest of the NBA will be trying to mimic the Miami Heat’s success with Duncan Robinson in the NBA Draft.

Robinson went undrafted out of the University of Michigan but is now hitting big shots in the NBA Finals, so the whole league is trying to figure out how Miami keeps finding these guys and who will be the next.

Robinson is mostly a spot-up shooter, but he’s got enough ball-handling to keep defenders honest and enough defense to stay in the rotation.

Not every player has to be an elite one-on-one defender to be effective defensively and Robinson is a smart guy who plays good team defense.

Robinson was an overlooked prospect who did the work to make the league and now it is paying off for both him and the Heat.

There is a player in the 2020 NBA Draft who has some similarities to Duncan Robinson, and like Robinson, may fall to the second round or out of the draft completely.

Jake Toolson out of BYU is a guy who isn’t going to draw a lot of oohs and ahhs for his athleticism or flashy dunks, but like Robinson, can flat out shoot the ball and may end up making an impact in the NBA.

Robinson and Tyler Herro are showing that you can never have too much shooting, so if the Pelicans can find an elite shooter in the second round or on their Summer League team, they should pay attention.

Could Toolson be that guy? Let’s take a look at his strengths and weaknesses as well as how he might fit on the Pelicans.
