New Orleans Pelicans: One trade with every team from the Central Division
New Orleans Pelicans: A trade with the Chicago Bulls
Trade with the Chicago Bulls
The Bulls are in an interesting position. They are not far from competing in the Eastern Conference, but they are also not far from being the worst team in the NBA.
With a few additions, it’s easy to see the Bulls making the playoffs next season, but it’s also easy to see them tanking and being awful again if they don’t make the right moves. I suggested that the Pelicans try to steal Lauri Markkanen, a talented forward who may be on his way out of Chicago.
But there are also blockbuster deals that could help both teams, make the Pelicans younger and give them future cap space.
This would be a risk for the Pelicans and they’d really have to want someone at #4 to do it. Porter Jr. has battled injuries for most of his career and only has one year left on his deal. He can be a reliable defender and 3-point shooter on the wing if healthy, but the Pels would only be guaranteed one year.
They would get another lottery pick for their troubles, which could end up being an impact player. They would also get loads of cap space when Porter’s contract expires.
The Bulls would get a defensive guard to pair with Zach LaVine, which would give them a dynamic backcourt and probably put them in the playoff picture in the East.
If the Bulls aren’t high on anyone at #4, they can use it to get a proven veteran player while getting out from under Porter Jr.’s contract.
This would be somewhat risky for both teams but potentially benefit both if things worked out.
There are a multitude of trades out there with the Central Division if the New Orleans Pelicans want to make moves either big or small.
Check back this week as we take a look around the rest of the league for trades that could benefit the Pelicans.
