With the 14th Pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Pelicans select Saddiq Bey from Villanova

Pelicans fans go wild. After a lengthy predraft process, the New Orleans Pelicans decide to solve their issues on the wing by selecting Villanova’s Saddiq Bey the prospect many fans have been pining for.

For the team, they decided that Bey was a perfect fit. Standing at 6’8″  with a 216-pound frame, Bey is exactly the player the Pelicans felt they were missing last season. A big wing who can defend in the frontcourt and knockdown a smooth 3 point jumper.

What makes the Pelicans more ecstatic is the idea of versatility now that Bey is joining the team. In David Griffin’s mind, he envisions the New Orleans Pelicans becoming a dangerous positionless basketball team.

With Brandon Ingram, Saddiq Bey, and Zion Williamson on the wings he knows that the Pelicans defense will improve and their ability to switch on both ends of the floor will make them difficult to stop in a game of uptempo basketball.

The draft continues now, and the Pelicans take more calls shopping their newly acquired pick that’s 30th overall. They spend time having conversations with teams about potential big men and back-up point guards.

After noting comes to fruition during those calls, the Pelicans decide to hold on to their selection at 30 and surprise fans by taking another player from their board.
