New Orleans Pelicans: A trade with the Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic have a couple of options when it comes to trades with the Pelicans. The Pels could go big and try to nab Aaron Gordon or Nikola Vucevic but it would be difficult without giving up a key part of their core.

Instead, the Pelicans could try to improve their defense and intensity with a smaller trade.

Again, in this trade, the Pelicans would be giving up Melli to try and get better defensively.

The Magic were one of the league’s poorest 3-point shooting teams, so adding a stretch-four like Melli to put next to Vucevic makes a lot of sense.

Khem Birch is a guy who provides energy, defense and hustle off the bench. He can’t shoot but he can defend multiple spots and would give the Pelicans more defensive versatility.

The Pelicans need more guys who dive on the floor, give hard fouls and focus on defense. This trade would improve the Pels’ defense without giving up much in Melli.
