New Orleans Pelicans: A trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder

The OKC Thunder could go a lot of directions when it comes to this offseason. They could trade Chris Paul to add more young assets to their roster or they could try to build on this year’s success and add some more talent to what they already have.

In this trade, the OKC Thunder lean further into their three-guard lineups and add yet another guard in Jrue Holiday in exchange for center Steven Adams.

This would make OKC dangerously thin at center considering Nerlens Noel is also a free agent, but they’d have the potential to run out versatile lineups that included four guards.

OKC had the best clutch time lineups in the NBA this season because of their ability to run with mostly guards. Would they want to lean even further into that strategy?

The Pelicans get back their new starting center in Steven Adams, a guy who would more than replace Derrick Favors’ production and only has one more year left on his contract.

The Pelicans could probably do better than this for Holiday and the Thunder would need to get back a big man in any trade, so this one is probably a non-starter.

The only way the Pelicans would work in a trade with OKC is to add a third team. More on that coming.
