New Orleans Pelicans: A trade with the Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers finally got healthy at the end of the season and made a run to the playoffs.

They have been rolling with the CJ McCollum/Damian Lillard duo for awhile and may decide it is time to shake things up. If they do, there might be a fit with the Pelicans.

The Pelicans could move Jrue Holiday for CJ McCollum but that seems like a wash and the Pels would be taking on a lot of extra years of salary.

Jusuf Nurkic would be a nice fit in New Orleans, but what would it take to get him?

In this trade, the Trail Blazers add elite shooting, a center prospect to replace Whiteside off the bench and a lottery pick for Nurkic, who has rounded into one of the best all-around centers in the NBA.

This would be a haul considering the Blazers gave up practically nothing to get Nurkic in the first place. They’d clear some future cap space, have another offensive weapon and get a little younger with Hayes and a lottery pick.

The Pelicans would be getting their starting center, a guy who is a double/double machine, rim protector and plus-defender. He’d fit well with Zion Williamson and would be a guy the Pelicans could re-sign for the long term.

Would this be too much for Nurkic? Not enough? The fit is there if the Pels can find the right price.
