Pelicans NBA Draft: Ty-Shon Alexander is the next Lou Williams
By Nick Alvarez
The New Orleans Pelicans can draft this dynamic scoring guard in the second round of the NBA Draft
Call me crazy, but I think it’s more fascinating to think about what the New Orleans Pelicans will do with their three second-round picks in the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft. Yes, I know they have the 13th pick in the lottery, but unless they use that pick in a trade it’s safe to say that the Pelicans will take one of this year’s elite wing players.
I have no problem with that move either, but the New Orleans Pelicans have more holes to fill on their roster outside of acquiring another wing. One of the biggest voids the team needs to fill is their lack of bench scoring.
This past season, the New Orleans Pelicans had one of the best scoring offenses in the NBA, but most of that production came from their starting lineup. When the Pelicans switched to their second unit, the results they got were mediocre with the team’s bench ranking 15th in the NBA in bench scoring.
Now, what if I told you this year’s draft might have a player who’s very reminiscent of the NBA’s ultimate bench scorer? For those of you who don’t know by now, I’m talking about Mr. Sixth Man himself Lou Williams.
That’s where Creighton’s Ty-Shon Alexander enters the picture. A three-year player at Creighton University, Ty-Shon Alexander enters this draft as a second-round sleeper with a game that features shades of Lou Williams.
A player of that mold is just what the New Orleans Pelicans need. With an interesting skill set and limited weaknesses, here’s how Ty-Shon Alexander fits the Pelicans.
