New Orleans Pelicans: One trade with every team in the Pacific Division
New Orleans Pelicans: A trade with the Golden State Warriors
It’s a poorly kept secret that the Golden State Warriors would like to trade the #2 pick in the NBA Draft for an impact player, possibly Jrue Holiday.
The Warriors have the Splash Brothers and Draymond Green returning, so have a short window in which to win titles. Adding a rookie probably doesn’t help them much, so it makes sense that they would package the pick to try and get a fourth piece to make a run at a title.
If the Pels decide to move on from Holiday, this is the kind of trade I’d like to see, as it potentially allows them to build the youngest and most talented team in the league.
In this trade, the Warriors get their fourth piece for Wiggins (whose contract they’d probably like to ditch) and the #2 pick.
The Pelicans give up Holiday but get a talented wing back in Wiggins, as well as the second pick, which they could use to take LaMelo or another impact talent. They would still have their own 13th pick, which they could move in a package for another player, or just draft a guy and add even more young talent.
Imagine this roster:
PG: Lonzo Ball/ LaMelo Ball
SG: Andrew Wiggins/Josh Hart/J.J. Redick
SF: Brandon Ingram/Saddiq Bey
PF: Zion Williamson/Nicolo Melli
C: Jaxson Hayes
If you don’t like Melo, add James Wiseman or Onyeka Okongwu. Either way, the Pelicans are young, deep, talented and would still have another trade or two to make to get better.
If the Pels didn’t want Wiggins, they could probably get the Knicks involved in a three-team trade to avoid the big contract.
The Pacific Division is loaded with potential trades for the New Orleans Pelicans, who can make themselves better now and set up a consistent contender for the future.
