New Orleans Pelicans Draft: The next Brandon Ingram may fall to 2nd round
New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Jaden McDaniels’ weaknesses
Jaden McDaniels’ Weaknesses
Ok, so on the high-end Jaden McDaniels could be the next Brandon Ingram, a dynamic scorer who can get his shot all over the floor.
But what about the low end?
McDaniels has some red flags. First of all, some have questioned his attitude. He got a lot of silly technical fouls at Washington for things like unsportsmanlike conduct. He was also a guy who got into a lot of foul trouble.
McDaniels can create his own shot off the bounce, but his handles need work. He averaged 3.2 turnovers per game to only 2.1 assists, dreadful numbers for someone whose usage rate was not that high.
McDaniels was also slow to make reads and suffers from poor decision making, especially when it comes to shot selection. In the NBA, he’d have to defer to his teammates a lot more and would not be asked to create much on the offensive end.
Some have also questioned McDaniels’ motor when it comes to running the floor and getting back on defense.
He is definitely not a finished product but offers a skill set that would fit in well with the New Orleans Pelicans and new coach Stan Van Gundy.
