New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: A giant point guard sleeper for the 2nd round
New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Abdoulaye N’Doye is a second-round sleeper
Abdoulaye N’Doye’s Strengths
Abdoulaye N’Doye is a French professional who opted out of the 2019 NBA Draft but re-entered this season at age 22.
He is a 6-foot-7 point guard with a massive 7-foot-2 wingspan, so it’s easy to see why teams might be intrigued, especially considering he’s already put in several years as a professional in France.
He’s got some Anfernee Hardaway vibe though he is not nearly as quick or as skilled a shooter.
N’Doye’s biggest strength is his size. With such long arms, he can shoot over just about anyone and is adept at using his size to get into the lane and finish with an array of floaters, Euro-steps and pull-ups:
N’Doye is very good at either lowering his shoulder to bully his way into the lane or simply pulling up for runners, using his height to shoot over defenders.
He is also a good passer who takes care of the ball, can rebound his position and should be able to defend multiple spots.
He can see over most defenders, so he makes up for a lack of quickness by having outstanding floor vision, though at the moment he uses his dribble to try and score more than facilitate.
That could change in the NBA, where N’Doye would likely be asked to create more offense for his teammates.
N’Doye is a physical specimen who definitely has the frame to be in the NBA, so why is he going to fall to the 2nd round?
