New Orleans Pelicans free agency: Adding veteran 3-and-D wing Jeff Green

Jeff Green

Jeff Green’s career has been defined by what he isn’t instead of what he is.

For years, teams thought Green was going to break out and become the next great wing in the NBA and why not? He looks the part, and at times, has been that guy.

But Green was never been able to consistently put it all together and never became a superstar, instead he’s just had a very steady NBA career.

Green is now 34-years-old and never going to be a superstar, but he showed he can still get it done for Houston, averaging 12.2 points per game on 35 percent from 3-point range.

Green played solid defense all over the court for Houston in the playoffs in addition to knocking down some big 3-point shots in the clutch.

Green has averaged double figures in all but two of his NBA seasons and can still be a weapon off someone’s bench, especially a team that wants to go small.

Green played both forward positions and even some center for Houston, so he could fill in all over the place and just seems to keep getting better at those corner 3-point shots.

Green could play limited minutes for the Pelicans at both forward positions, allowing them to go small and surround Zion Williamson with shooters.

Green is still a solid player who would add some veteran leadership and 3-point shooting. We all know SVG loves wing shooters, so Green might get a call.
