New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: Small forward prospect Saddiq Bey

Saddiq Bey

Bey has long been mocked to the Pelicans and it makes a whole lot of sense.

They need a big wing and he is 6-foot-8 with an NBA frame.

They need defense and Bey is a willing, tenacious defender who can guard anyone on the floor.

They need a 3-point shooter and Bey hit them at a high rate in college.

Add all of this to the fact that he comes from Villanova, a school that has cranked out NBA players over the last few years including Josh Hart, and you have what looks to be the best prospect for the Pelicans.

Some big boards have Bey listed as a top-five guy, so if he drops to the Pels at 13, they will have to consider him.

Bey is not a great rebounder and isn’t a guy who is going to rack up blocks and steals, but he is a disruptive defender who Villanova always put on the other team’s best player regardless of position.

The Pelicans lack players who hustle, who get after it on the defensive end and actually take pride in shutting down the other team’s best guy.

Bey could be that wing for the Pelicans and is one of the guys they are most likely to take with the 13th pick.
