New Orleans Pelicans: Jrue Holiday trade package power rankings
By Nick Alvarez
The Brooklyn Nets could present the New Orleans Pelicans with a balanced package for Jrue Holiday as they go all-in on 2021
#2- Brooklyn Nets
Potential Assets Available: Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, 19th pick in 2020 NBA Draft
Here we are, the top two. These two packages are the ones I consider the most balanced, starting with the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets actually attempted to acquire Holiday from the Pelicans at last year’s trade deadline, but the team rebuffed the offer. That doesn’t mean they can’t try again.
I personally like what the Nets have to offer, young players who are growing, but also have playoff experience. I think any combination of the four young players listed above would be a nice infusion of talent into the Pelicans’ roster.
Caris LeVert could be a nice option to take Holiday’s position and has grown into a player who’s a dynamic scorer and excellent secondary-playmaker. I wouldn’t consider him an All-Star caliber player down the road, but I think he’d definitely continue being a solid starter in the NBA.
Spencer Dinwiddie is a guy that Stan Van Gundy drafted (albeit mismanaged, but second time’s a charm?) who could be intriguing as a combo guard coming off of the bench or a spot starter at shooting guard, he was an All-Star last season and it feels like he’s only going to continue that trajectory.
Those two players alone could be great returns, but then there’s also Allen and Prince. Both of them are frontcourt players who would fill areas of need on the roster and while they’ve had their ups-and-downs, they’re still young and developing.
Of course, similar to Miami, the Nets have a late first-round pick that they could also use as a sweetener for the Pelicans which would give them flexibility in the upcoming draft.
None of these packages could match the team that we have at number one though.
