NBA Draft: Top 3 power forwards for the New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans can find a power forward in the NBA Draft.
The New Orleans Pelicans have four picks to secure some impact talent in the NBA Draft.
They need depth at both forward positions, a center and a backup point guard. Unless they trade Jrue Holiday, they will not have the cap space to fill all of these holes in free agency.
There are some appealing Holiday trades out there and the Pelicans are reportedly shopping him to contenders. Depending on the trade, they could deplete their draft assets or add to them.
The Pelicans are going to be players on draft night either way and should be able to find a contributor with the 13th pick.
There are some intriguing power forwards in this draft, which could end up being the deepest position, especially as teams look to replicate Miami’s success with Bam Adebayo.
The New Orleans Pelicans could definitely use a player in this mold, as they need rim protection, versatile defenders and length on the wing.
If the Pels do decide to go with a power or combo forward with their pick, they will look for someone who has elite defensive potential or a big to stretch the floor.
Onyeka Okongwu is probably the top prospect at the position but he will almost certainly be gone by the time the Pelicans choose unless they move up in the draft.
If they stay at pick 13, here are two guys they should consider, as well as a sleeper pick who could fall to the second round and a bonus guy who I like more than anyone for the Pelicans.
