Christmas Day Matchup #1- New Orleans Pelicans vs Los Angeles Lakers

This is the game New Orleans Pelicans fans should hope for. This is the Pelicans matching up against the defending champions, on the time slot that will probably be the biggest of the day. Oh yeah, we haven’t even mentioned Anthony Davis yet either.

This game would be so fascinating for so many reasons. First, we have the Anthony Davis trade. Will Davis continue dominating next season, or will the young Pelicans begin to prove that they’re coming? How will Zion Williamson matchup with LeBron James? Could he possibly become the player who takes James’ mantle with a great showing?

There is just so much to love about this game, and both teams on the court will surely dazzle. They’ll be fastbreaks filled with dunks all over the floor. Just like the Warriors game too, this will be an excellent building block for the Pelicans early into the season.

This is a game where even in the Pelicans lose, they can gain some serious hype just by making it close. This matchup could be the one that gets the Pelicans from being a young hip team to watch in the NBA, to getting some national recognition.

After all, it’s the old saying that goes “to be the best, you got to beat the best”, and I’d personally love to see this young New Orleans Pelicans team give it their all and show that this year is different. It’d be amazing for the team to stand up to the defending champs and tell the world, they’re here to compete.
