Recent reports link the New Orleans Pelicans in a trade with the OKC Thunder for Chris Paul.

The New Orleans Pelicans have been involved in just about every trade rumor this offseason, so it is not surprising that they are now being mentioned in the Chris Paul sweepstakes.

The first rumor was that the Phoenix Suns were after Paul in a trade, hoping to build on their bubble success and get into the playoffs.

The Suns still seem to be the likeliest destination, as they have the assets and young players the Thunder are likely to want, and are close enough to being contenders that Paul might actually want to go there.

Yesterday another rumor emerged on the Ryen Russillo Podcast, which was that the New Orleans Pelicans were also interested in acquiring Chris Paul in a trade.

According to Russillo, Chris Paul is eager to play with Jrue Holiday, which complicates matters, as the easiest way to get Paul would be to trade him for Jrue Holiday.

Paul doesn’t want to come to a team that has to empty its talent to acquire him, so any trade would not involve Jrue Holiday.

Paul may be onto something though, as a backcourt made up of him and Jrue Holiday is very intriguing and could propel the Pelicans into the upper half of the Western Conference.

Paul showed that he can still get it done, leading the OKC Thunder to an unlikely playoff appearance that has other contenders wondering what Paul could do for them.

Adding Chris Paul would certainly make the Pelicans better, as he is not only a brilliant offensive player but also a great team defender.

It would be a bold move for the New Orleans Pelicans and a signal that they are ready to win now. But is there a fit without moving Jrue Holiday? Would the Pelicans be willing to give up Lonzo Ball and other assets for a couple of years of Chris Paul?
