New Orleans Pelicans NBA Draft: 4 Players to select with a top 10 pick

New Orleans Pelicans Target #2- Patrick Williams, Wing, Flordia State
Here’s the player that Kevin O’Connor mentioned the Pelicans could be trying to trade for, Flordia State’s Patrick Williams. He’s another wing with massive upside who could excel under the New Orleans Pelicans.
When watching Williams, the thing that stands out about him is his impressive frame. He stands at 6’8″ (but might even be bigger) and carries a 7′ wingspan to match. That’s exactly the size and length that the New Orleans Pelicans want to add to their wing rotation this offseason.
Then there are the defensive abilities. Williams is a cerebral defender, a player that’s good at rotating and switching in team defensive concepts. He knows how to utilize his size as leverage against his matchup and can force turnovers. The Pelicans would definitely love adding those traits to what was a 20th ranked defense.
Offensively, just like Okoro, Williams is still a work in progress but he still has a solid 3 point shot to fall back on. Williams shot 32 percent from deep which is average but his 84 percent free-throw shooting indicates that his stroke is definitely coming along.
The rest of his offense is coming together but I can see the New Orleans Pelicans being interested in Patrick Williams because of his ability to play multiple roles in Stan Van Gundy’s defined offensive system. Of course, I think there’s one more player that comes to mind who might rise above Williams.
