Season ticket holders for the New Orleans Pelicans are trying to figure out how many games they can actually attend.

The New Orleans Pelicans‘ ticket office has been very communicative to those of us who decided to participate in this coming season, regardless of how many games we can attend.

Some teams, like the LA Lakers, have already announced that they are not going to have fans inside their arenas for the start of the season.

As The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported on Wednesday, the NBA has sent a memo to teams for what they require to allow fans back into the arenas.

As a season ticket holder, I received an email this week from the Pelicans regarding the plans for fans in the arena. While much is still unknown, they say they are moving forward with some type of fan experience in the Blender.

Right now, we know there is a safety plan in the works between the NBA, government officials at the state and local levels, the owners of the Smoothie King Center and Ochsner Health. Most of the plans are already being implemented in the Superdome next door for the Saints games so the hope the protocols can carry over to the SKC with minor adjustments.

Expectations are that we will be on a rotating system for games. It factors-in capacity in the arena based on local and NBA regulations, what ticket package was purchased and how many fans they need to accommodate per game.

While we won’t be able to go to all of the games, we definitely will be there for some. Of course, this also hinges on the numbers of new COVID-19 cases in Louisiana and New Orleans, specifically.

The next email with more details is expected to come in a couple of weeks, they say. And while I don’t know what the actual fan experience will look like, I’m confident those of us who bought season tickets and opted in for this version of the Pelicans will get to see them play in person at least a few times.

So once again, as with so much in 2020, we wait.
