The New Orleans Pelicans have three picks in the 2020 NBA Draft.

After trading Jrue Holiday to the Milwaukee Bucks, the New Orleans Pelicans will now have three picks heading into the 2020 NBA Draft.

With the 13th and 24th picks, as well as one in the second round (the 42nd and 60th went to the Bucks), the Pelicans have the ammunition to move up in the draft, or they could just take three guys and see what happens.

In my opinion, the Pelicans are more likely to move up in this draft, especially if there is a big man available that they like. The Pels have an imbalanced roster with too many guards, which may have changed their strategy going into the draft.

Now that they needs have been more clearly defined, it is likely that the Pels will want to use their huge treasure trove of draft assets to address them.

Here is the trade edition of the New Orleans Pelicans’ mock draft, which will include the trade I think they should make.

New Orleans Pelicans NBA Mock Draft:  Minnesota Timberwolves Pick #1

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Minnesota Timberwolves. player. Point Guard/ Illawara Hawks. LaMelo Ball. 1. 86

After all the talk and misdirection, the Minnesota Timberwolves will probably just take the player who most have as the #1 pick in the draft and that is LaMelo Ball.

Minnesota has a solid young core and all of them can score, so adding a pass-first point guard makes sense.

D’Angelo Russell, Karl-Anthony Towns and Malik Beasley are all high-volume shooters, and LaMelo is potentially a guy who could get them much better shots, especially in the open court.

There is no consensus number one pick in this draft, which is why the Timberwolves will probably bet on star power as much as talent. LaMelo is the flashiest name in this draft and will bring some attention to the oft-overlooked Timberwolves, who will be trying to make the leap into the playoffs.

I could also see the Timberwolves trading this pick if they really don’t like anyone and the Pels might be one of the teams to jump at the chance to take LaMelo.

This is the safest pick in a draft full of unknowns, as LaMelo should be at least as good as Lonzo Ball, and if so, he’d fit well with what the Wolves already have.
