New Orleans Pelicans NBA Mock Draft: Charlotte Hornets pick #3

Charlotte Hornets. James Wiseman. player. 170. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Center/ Memphis. 3

James Wiseman was once the consensus #1 player in this draft but things changed after he only played a couple of games at Memphis.

With no consensus about who the best big man is, Wiseman is the choice here just because he fits best with what the Hornets already have.

He is a guy who will defend the rim, block shots and has a nice shooting stroke, which makes him a nice fit with Devonte’ Graham, PJ Washington and Miles Bridges.

Even though some have Onyeka Okongwu with a higher ceiling, Wiseman is probably the safer pick.

At the most he becomes Deandre Ayton with better defense, at worst, he’s a guy who will at least protect the rim.

This would be somewhat of a surprise choice, but it makes a lot of sense and could propel Charlotte into playoff contention in the East.
