The Phoenix Suns could use a rebounder/defender to pair with DeAndre Ayton, and Precious Achiuwa is one of the best bets in this draft to provide it.
The Suns are loaded with skill players and have two of the best scorers at their positions in Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton and have now added Chris Paul to the mix.
The Suns are also not that far away from being good, evidenced by the fact that they went 8-0 in the bubble and suddenly looked like a playoff team and have now added a Hall of Famer.
The Suns don’t need to add another impact scorer, so will look to shore up their defense with Achiuwa, who is raw offensively, but has a lot of tools.
He is a rim protector, runs the floor well and has plus athleticism and will make the Suns’ defense better right away, as he can defend multiple positions.
His addition would free DeAndre Ayton more on the offensive end, as it Achiuwa could potentially cover some of his on-the-ball defensive assignments, allowing Ayton to be more of a shot-blocker off the ball, where he thrives.
Achiuwa may not be the sexy pick that will excite Suns’ fans, but he is a guy who fills a need, fits on their roster without disrupting it and is one of the safer bets to be a contributor right away.
