New Orleans Pelicans: Free agents that fit well with Zion Williamson and Steven Adams

Young Potential

Harry Giles

If the Pelicans want to take a chance on a guy who could help now and be a potential long-term fit, then Harry Giles should get a look.

He didn’t get a lot of run for the Sacramento Kings but is only in his third year and has flashed signs of big potential.

Giles is 6-foot-10 with a 7-foot-3 wingspan, measurements that should help him to develop into an elite shot blocker at some point in his career. The Pelicans already have a very similar guy in Jaxson Hayes but he and Giles could both learn under Steven Adams for a year while still contributing off the bench.

Giles would also potentially make Hayes expendable in a future trade, as they have a similar skill set though Hayes has been the better player so far.

Depending on how much he ends up getting paid, Giles would be a low-cost risk for a guy who could be a future long-term fit with the core of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.

Athletic shot-blockers should thrive next to Steven Adams and Giles would be a high-ceiling one to take a calculated risk to sign.
