New Orleans Pelicans: 3 undrafted players the Pels should audition
New Orleans Pelicans: the Pels should give Abdoulaye N’Doye an audition
Abdoulaye N’Doye
I wrote about Abdoulaye N’Doye as a possible second-round sleeper for the Pelicans and he is still available after going undrafted.
Abdoulaye N’Doye is a perfect candidate to spend a few more years overseas, as he is still a raw talent that needs plenty of time to develop.
But it’s easy to see why teams might take a risk.
He is a 6-foot-7 point guard with a massive 7-foot-2 wingspan, so it’s clear why teams might be intrigued, especially considering he’s already put in several years as a professional in France.
He’s got some Anfernee Hardaway vibe though he is not nearly as quick or as skilled a shooter.
N’Doye’s biggest strength is his size. With such long arms, he can shoot over just about anyone and is adept at using his size to get into the lane and finish with an array of floaters, Euro-steps and pull-ups
He is also a good passer who takes care of the ball, can rebound his position and should be able to defend multiple spots.
He can see over most defenders, so he makes up for a lack of quickness by having outstanding floor vision, though at the moment he uses his dribble to try and score more than facilitate.
N’Doye is not ready now but could be at some point, which is why he is worth the risk for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Can the Pels find some talent on the undrafted heap? Let’s hope they find the next gem who went overlooked.
