Rawle Alkins is the type of hungry player the New Orleans Pelicans need.

If you watched the New Orleans Pelicans last season, then you know that they lacked grit and hustle.

They’ve tried to remedy that this season by adding players like Steven Adams, Eric Bledsoe and Wenyen Gabriel, tough players who will commit on the defensive end.

While the Pels have done a lot to shore up their interior defense, they did nothing to improve on the wing, where they are still thin and could use a big guy who can defend.

Enter Rawle Alkins.

The Pels signed Alkins to an Exhibit-10 contract, so he will be joining them in training camp hoping to make the final roster or at least the Pels’ G-League team.

If you are not sure who Alkins is, don’t worry, you’re not alone. He’s spent the last few years toiling between the G-League and Portugal.

The Pels likely see him as a guy who will compete in training camp, make it hard on their starters and ultimately join the G-League team but if things work out, he might just have a spot on this roster.

Rawle Alkins brings a skillset that the Pelicans desperately need, and even though he is a longshot, could end up being a contributor for the New Orleans Pelicans this season.
