New Orleans Pelicans: Are the Pels better or worse at shooting guard?

Shooting Guard

2019-20: Jrue Holiday, JJ Redick, Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, E’Twaun Moore

2020-21: Josh Hart, JJ Redick, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Sindarius Thornwell

The Pelicans said goodbye to Holiday and E’Twaun Moore and didn’t do much to replace them. Bledsoe could be listed here, as he is going to be the starting two-guard and play off the ball, but these are the guys officially listed at the two.

Losing Holiday is going to hurt for sure and veteran Moore was a steadying hand at times when the Pels needed a bucket or a stop.

Sindarius Thornwell played sparingly in the bubble but the Pels must have liked what they saw because they brought him back.

This group isn’t as deep as last season, though last season’s depth wasn’t quality. NAW could be better, Redick and Hart will still be solid, so things didn’t change much.

Will Thornwell be better than Moore in that veteran role? Probably not, but it won’t be a big fall off either way.

VERDICT: WORSE
