Gar Forman’s history with the NCAA and the NBA Draft, should help the New Orleans Pelicans with all of their future draft picks

The reason why I’m optimistic about Forman’s addition to the New Orleans Pelicans is that his history with the draft should help the Pelicans with their array of future picks. Let’s evaluate this seriously.

Before becoming an executive in Chicago, Forman spent his career as an assistant coach and recruiter for multiple teams in NCAA, which means he has an eye for top talent. We just detailed the work Forman did at the top of the draft with Chicago so when we put it all together it’s safe to say that Forman spot an elite player.

I think that’s important because the Pelicans have several draft picks down the line that are not only their own but also ones that they received from the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks via trading away Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday.

That means the Pelicans could have a lot of picks in future drafts, and some that land near the top of the draft too. I wrote a brief preview of next season’s star-studded draft a few weeks ago, and with so much top-notch talent, Forman could help the Pelicans front office decide who’s the best player on the board.

Not to mention while the rest of the Pelicans front office focuses on the NBA season and evaluates moves to make during the year, Forman can spend time scouting the NCAA level and assisting the Pelicans in that part of the operation.

We’re not talking about Gar Forman joining the New Orleans Pelicans to somehow overthrow the front office and commit a grand coup Jason Kidd style, we’re talking about an experienced executive joining this organization with the hope of helping them become championship level. That should be worth something to fans.
