NBA Preseason Power Rankings: Where do the New Orleans Pelicans land?
By Nick Alvarez
12. Phoenix Suns
2020 has been a rough year for almost everyone except, the Phoenix Suns. The Suns somehow went to the NBA knowing they were playing with house money and went on an 8-game win streak. Once that happened, the organization decided that Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton were with building around.
Following up their impressive run, the Suns added veteran point guard Chris Paul, 3-and-D wing Jae Crowder, and forward Jalen Smith with the 10th overall pick. Factor in Mikal Bridges on the wing, and suddenly this Suns team looks deep and dangerous, ready to advance in the NBA landscape.
11. Golden State Warriors
It’s tragic, the Golden State Warriors would be much higher in these rankings today if it weren’t for the horrible draft night injury to Klay Thompson. Even with the star shooting guard’s absence though, I still think this team will be very good.
The roster has arguably the league’s best point guard in Stephen Curry, a versatile big man in Draymond Green, and a trio of young players with upside in Kelly Oubre Jr, Andrew Wiggins, and 2nd overall pick James Wiseman. After an embarrassing season last year, I expect Steve Kerr and this unit are ready to show the NBA that they aren’t dead yet.
