New Orleans Pelicans: Brandon Ingram looked like a superstar

Brandon Ingram is a superstar!

Ok, not yet, but damn.

Ingram was amazing in the first game, a one-man wrecking crew on both ends.

He took over the game in the second quarter, hitting shots from all over the place and putting a few guys on a preseason poster.

But most impressive were his defense and playmaking. Ingram ended the game with three steals and six assists and was generally swarming on defense. On this play, an Ingram steal on the inbounds led to this dime to Jaxson Hayes:

Ingram looked like a different player defensively, using his length to disrupt passing lanes and get deflections all night.

He was also confident and aggressive leading the second unit as the primary ball-handler and scorer. With Ingram handling the ball like that, the Pels don’t really need a backup point guard, which is nice because they don’t really have one until Kira Lewis Jr. is ready.

Ingram played like a superstar, an all-around player who is not just a scorer. If he plays like this all season, Ingram will find himself on the All-NBA team.
