Question #2- Did the New Orleans Pelicans fix their turnover issue, or will it still haunt them in 2021?

Let’s talk about turnovers. The Pelicans committed 11 turnovers in their first preseason game, which doesn’t bode well for the team who led the league in turnovers last season.

We all know that Stan Van Gundy was hired, in part to lessen the turnovers on the offensive end of the floor, but it seems like that hasn’t happened. So does that trend continue for the rest of the season?

I don’t think so, and honestly, I think the turnover numbers were a bit overinflated for the Pelicans. Sure, the team committed 11 turnovers, but 7 of them came from Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. Again, since it’s the preseason this shouldn’t be overly surprising that the Pelicans are a little rusty and we can’t blame Zion for getting stripped when attacking the basket.

Secondly, Stan Van Gundy seemed to correct the issue because the team had three turnovers in their first three minutes, yet they only had 8 spread out through the rest of the game, not bad. Clearly, Stan Van Gundy is making this a point of emphasis so let’s see how it improves over the course of the season.

Of course, we need to ask one more question, regarding one of the biggest surprises of the night for the Pelicans.
