New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson is unstoppable

Overreaction #2: Zion Williamson is an unstoppable force of nature!

Ok, so this is not an overreaction.

People tend to focus on Zion’s big dunks but his real skill is knifing into the lane, then using his quickness and power to propel himself towards the hoop for a layup.

Most of Zion Williamson’s game is actually played below the rim and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone rack up points as quickly as he does.

You look up, and suddenly he has ten points and the Pelicans haven’t even run a play for him.

Last night they just gave Zion the ball and let him do his thing, which often resulted in him just bowling through the lane for a layup. Zion brought the ball up the floor on consecutive possessions and the Bucks had no idea what to do.

They packed the lane and just let Zion rumble in, hoping he would pass but eventually just giving up a layup.

Zion Williamson finished the night with 31 points, nine rebounds, two assists and a block. His final numbers for the preseason:

67 minutes

57 points

20 rebounds

20-35 FG

17-22 FT

This is what Zion looks like unleashed, healthy and not on limitations. If he plays like this all season, he’ll make All-NBA.
