Takeaway #2- Eric Bledsoe seamlessly fills the New Orleans Pelicans’ Jrue Holiday void

If it wasn’t for Lonzo and Zion, this would be my biggest takeaway from the night, Eric Bledsoe looks like he fits this Pelicans team perfectly.

As soon as I turned on my TV, my biggest question entering the game was how would Eric Bledsoe perform on this team? I understood that the idea is that Bledsoe would fill what Jrue Holiday left behind when the Pelicans traded him to their opponent, but I had reservations.

Once the game got going though, all those feelings quickly went to the wayside. Bledsoe looked like Holiday but just a couple of inches smaller, and he did everything I wanted him to. He scored a little bit, chipping in 14 points. He made some plays with 6 assists, and his defense was a part of the reason why the Pelicans played so well.

Making Bledsoe’s performance even better was the fact that it came against Jrue Holiday and the Bucks. All offseason, I’ve heard Pelicans fans say that they would watch the Pelicans and see if Bledsoe could compare to the fan-favorite Holiday, and it turns out he outperformed him.

Not even considering stats, Bledsoe just looked better than Holiday did on the court. He looked more aggressive, quicker, and much more energized. That’s no knock on Holiday either, I’m just using that opinion to point out that there’s no real drop off in performance from Holiday to Bledsoe.

Another piece of great news as this team enters the regular season, but not as big as this one!
