Zion Williamson will take the New Orleans Pelicans to the playoffs

Prediction #5

Zion Williamson will lead the Pelicans to the playoffs

This might be the boldest prediction of all, as it will be tough for the Pelicans to crack into the insanely competitive Western Conference playoff picture.

The Pelicans finished four games out of the final playoff spot last season after imploding in the bubble, but heading into the bubble? It was their spot to take.

They ran into some bad luck during a pandemic and things didn’t work out last season, but with a full season of Zion, Ingram and Lonzo Ball healthy and playing with confidence, the Pels should be able to beat the six or seven teams that will be fighting for the 8th seed.

Of the teams they were battling last season, the Suns improved the most, adding Chris Paul to a team that went undefeated in the bubble.

The Spurs didn’t get any better and neither did the Kings. The Trail Blazers will be better just because they are healthy and the Grizzlies will be right back in the mix.

It won’t be easy but the Pelicans dominated the Grizzlies and Blazers last season, so if they can keep that up, and play well against the Suns, they will have a good shot at grabbing a spot.

The 2020-21 season kicks off for the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday and Zion starts his campaign to take over the NBA.
