Kentucky’s Brandon Boston Jr. could be the New Orleans Pelicans’ shooting guard of the future

Brandon Boston Jr. – Kentucky

John Calipari’s Kentucky team has not lived up to the hype they had entering the season. His number one recruiting class has only mustered a single win so far this season and already has six losses.

That obviously presents a clear red-flag with Brandon Boston Jr, but his upside and scoring ability still makes him an intriguing prospect to watch for the New Orleans Pelicans.

We all know by now, scoring guards from Kentucky tend to be productive at the NBA level, regardless of how Kentucky performs in the NCAA. Boston looks like he’s the next player in that mold.

He’s a 6’7″ swingman who knows how to attack the basket, scouts have even compared him to the Pelicans’ own Brandon Ingram. Now you might think that the New Orleans Pelicans don’t need two players like Ingram on their roster, but what if the Pelicans don’t retain Josh Hart.

Having another wing with scoring upside will help the Pelicans’ offense. However, I am concerned about Boston, because he hasn’t played efficiently at Kentucky. He’s only shot 36 percent from the floor and 15 percent from deep. New Orleans Pelicans fans should watch Boston and Kentucky for the rest of the season to see if they turn things around.
