New Orleans Pelicans: Would the Pels trade Redick for Larry Nance Jr.?

Why the Pelicans would do it

Would the Pelicans essentially trade Redick for Larry Nance Jr.? An interesting question.

Redick has struggled so far but he will eventually return to his norm, which is one of the best shooters in the NBA.

But the Pels have too many guards and at the moment, Jaxson Hayes is the only backup big who is playable and that is tenuous.

Nance Jr. would provide depth at both center and power forward and give Stan Van Gundy a lot of potential lineup options with he and Zion Williamson.

He’s shooting over 35 percent from 3-point range this season, can grab rebounds, defend multiple spots and would be a huge upgrade from Melli.

This trade would require a pretty significant step-up from Alexander-Walker and possibly even Kira Lewis Jr., as someone would have to fill Redick’s minutes.

It would give the Pelicans a more balanced team and take some of the pressure off Zion and Steven Adams who are logging big minutes.

The Pels may have to use their guard depth to make a trade unless someone from the bench steps up.
