New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson needs to contain Domantas Sabonis

Zion Williamson vs. Domantas Sabonis

Domantas Sabonis has been the Pacers’ best player so far and is looking like an All-NBA power forward.

He is averaging 20.8 points, 11.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game, numbers that put him in elite company.

Zion Williamson is going to have to wear him down on the defensive end by playing physically and keeping Sabonis off the boards, which won’t be easy.

Toronto showed other teams how to slow Zion Williamson by packing the lane and doubling him every time he got the ball and the 20-year-old still put up 21 points and seven boards.

Indiana has much better bigs than Toronto, so the Pacers may decide to try and play Zion straight up and not double him as much as the Raptors did, as it just opened up the game for other Pelicans to have big nights.

If Sabonis does mark Zion one-on-one, then Zion has to take it to him and try to get him into foul trouble like he did Pascal Siakam in the last game.

Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson combined for 24 free throws against the Raptors, and if Zion can get Sabonis and Turner in foul trouble it could be a repeat against the Pacers.
