Match-up #2: #1 Gonzaga vs BYU, 1/7 @ 7:30 PM CST

Potential New Orleans Pelicans Prospects: Jalen Suggs, Corey Kispert, Joel Ayayi

For New Orleans Pelicans fans, this match-up is all about the talent on the top-ranked team in the country, Gonzaga.

Last week when we looked at NCAA players that fans should keep an eye on, Jalen Suggs topped our list, so we’ll start there. Suggs is an all-around point guard with elite athletism, in my opinion, he’s what runs this Gonzaga team, and he’s been the best player in the nation.

Just imagine George Hill with Derrick Rose’s athletic abilities and that’s Suggs. He’s a top-5 prospect right now, so the Pelicans might need to trade up to get him, but they certainly have the ammo to do so.

Then there’s Gonzaga’s top-scorer, Corey Kispert. Kispert could’ve come out last year, but stayed at Gonzaga so he could start and raise his draft position. He’s done that so far, as he looks like a dynamic point-forward. I think he’d be the perfect player for the New Orleans Pelicans to select as wing-depth behind Brandon Ingram.

Rounding out our Gonzaga prospects is junior, Joel Ayayi. Ayayi plays as a 3-and-D guard on Gonzaga, and he’s limited athletic ability makes him nothing more than a rotational player. Still, I think the New Orleans Pelicans could consider him in the second round for some bench shooting.
