New Orleans Pelicans: The bench is awful
Overreaction #2: The Pelicans have the worst bench in the NBA!
Again, this may not be an overreaction.
The Pels are getting zilch, nothing from their bench. J.J. Redick was unplayable before he left with an injury. Nicolo Melli: unplayable.
Jaxson Hayes: an inconsistent mess on both ends. Josh Hart? Good defender but didn’t score last night and hasn’t much this season. Definitely not playing like a guy who wants a $15 million a year extension.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker has shown the most promise and he has also been terrible, including last night when he shot 5-of-14, including 0-for-5 from 3-point range.
If the New Orleans Pelicans are going to be a good team consistently, then they have to get a bench because right now they don’t have a single NBA rotation player in the second unit, not one.
To show how bad it is, E’Twaun Moore has barely gotten off the Suns’ bench this season. Is there any doubt he’d be the best bench option the Pels have right now?
If someone doesn’t step up off the bench or the Pels don’t make a trade, then this season is doomed.
The bench is killing the New Orleans Pelicans.
